Featherless biped with a Proposition of Action
What is a plan? A miserable little pile of objectives! But enough talk! Have at us!
This project is the largest scale game the five of us have ever attempted before so to keep on top of things and deliver within the deadlines we have, we're gonna need to plan! As things stand, we're gonna need to deliver a finished game around April of 2021. Seems like a while now but I'm sure it'll creep up on us like the overwhelming theme of dread that has permeated this year.
So. From now until the end of the year we'll be tackling the beast that is pre-production. Every mechanic, every map, every boss and every sprite will be meticulously planned out, tested both internally and externally to make sure the game feels exactly how we want it to. Right now we're in a prototyping phase, trying out our core gameplay loop to make sure its entertaining and engaging. We should have a very barebones prototype for November 2nd that will certainly act as our trial by fire for this concept.
With that prototype to guide us onwards, every scrap of detail will be gathered into our Game Design Document that we'll want to deliver in the weeks after. Another round of prototyping would secure our secondary gameplay loops to ensure they tie into the core and enhance it rather than taking it away. By the years end, we would want to have a single polished level of our game to reflect how the game would look and feel when fully finished. This playable demo will hopefully be available for external players on Itch.
In 2021, each month we would want our game to move to a new stage of development, going from alpha, to beta, to our own gold standard and then finally fully released with all the love and care we can devote to it. As we progress through this process, we will be keeping you updated through more spaced out devblogs that will show you what we're up to from week to week. At the moment, we're thinking of releasing the game on Itch.io but we've also discussed the possibility of releasing on Steam and even Switch if we're bold enough. We'll be certain to keep you posted!
