Something workable this way comes!

There's something so strangely cathartic about seeing blocks on a screen move when you tell them.

Over the past weeks we've been working hard at getting a pre-alpha prototype working to test the core gameplay working. That being the transformation mechanic and enemy types. As things stand in this stage of development, the player can change forms and attack in any of the cardinal directions as often as they like. Each of the three forms counteracts one of the three enemy types. When the player hits them, the enemy will take some damage, however if the player is in the correct form the enemy will be instantly slain.

To further show the player characters power over the enemies that swarm them, the enemies are restricted to a different system of combat entirely. While you may slay with abandon, they function on a turn based system where they all need to launch a coordinated attack against you at once.  They will damage the player based on how many of them are left each time the counter reaches 0, gradually chipping away at the players health.

The enemy AI is still in the works, for now they swarm around the player following them around the arena but keeping some distance, moving away as the player moves towards them. This is to reflect them being in a position to strike but not wanting to get too close.

We had a fair few issues with this though, the AI pathing fails to recognize the walls of the arena sometimes and leads to some enemies getting forced out of the scene. As far as appearances go, we're working with placeholders as we wanted to focus on the mechanics first for this stage of development.
