Alpha Inbound!


The Alpha release of Deity's Form is here, we're quite excited to have you all play and hear your feedback.

This week has mostly been preparation for that upcoming release. Implementing animations, sprites, sound effects, levels and music to allow more coherent playthroughs rather than the current endless run format that we've been using as a placeholder up until now. However, we've already spoken about what we planned to have done for Alpha and the changes we've been making week by week, all that matters now is how much that matters. That's where we'd like you to come in. The newest build of the game, v0.6, will be on the games itch page by the time this is released and we want to hear your feedback in the google forms we have linked in the games description. We have plans and features in progress for Beta already, of course, but we're aware that there's always room for improvement and that we don't know everything. Who knows? Maybe some of the changes we made suck and ruin the game beyond belief. Your thoughts and ideas are always appreciated. Whats still unclear? The text look real nice? Anything feel clunky?

We've had to deal with some odd issues this week. Earlier we had mentioned our implementation of some accessibility options for both font and font colour in our menus. This all went fine for every font we added, the two custom Deity's Fonts and our Dyslexic friendly font change colour perfectly. It all was perfect until we added the last one; Liberation Sans. For some reason, while this font was selected, only about a third of the colour options actually changed. However, if you changed the font type while having one of the non-changing colours selected, the new font would be in the correct colour. Even now we are still unsure what Liberation Sans has against the about two thirds of the RGB spectrum. In terms of some features we managed to get done a bit ahead of time, we've been able to implement a nice text/dialogue box system in preparation for our narrative implementation in between Alpha and Beta. Watching the text scroll appear across its little box brings back very wholesome memories of Pokemon Gold on the Gameboy colour but that's us getting wrapped up in nostalgia.
